It now sits at the head of Western Europe’s largest reservoir, the Alqueva, and on the edge of its Dark Sky Area.

Fortaleza de Juromenha
The impressive Sentinela de Guardiana, witness to so much Portuguese history but now suffering from the ravages of time, is about to become mighty again. Starting in August 2021, the exterior walls of the castle are being restored to their former glory which will be floodlit at night.

Events
Part of Juromenha’s extraordinary history is the Clube Rugby Juromenha, sitting at the heart of this village of just 60 people. Founded in 1997, the club has toured fourteen nations around the world, and will shortly be starting its own Rugby Sevens tournament. Watch this space.
